In addition to being a studio artist, Kate was a
gallery director for 24 years. Wearing both these hats affords
a particularly sympathetic but realistic perspective to gallery/artist
interactions. Learn what galleries look for, professional approaches
to galleries, how to prepare portfolios and image packages, and
pricing guidance. Alternative marketing opportunities will be
explored. Have your questions answered, and be prepared for discussion

Kate Anderson: How Knotting Rewove My Life
2-hour seminar slide lecture and group discussion
Kate Anderson will present a dynamic slide presentation
on her work. She began as a painter in 1982 and began collaborating
with her husband in 1986. For 10 years they had an active career
collaborating on painted mixed media wood assemblages. In 1995
she took a knotting class with noted textile artist Jane Sauer
and in 1996 began knotting exclusively. In 2006 she ended a 24
year career as a gallery director in order to focus on the opportunities
the textile world presents, as well as to concentrate full time
on her own work. This session will culminate in a group discussion
about the ability to reinvent oneself and the power of positive
change.
Pushing Boundaries: Contemporary Basketry

Artist Kate Anderson will present an overview of
contemporary basketry sculpture. A young and vibrant movement,
contemporary basketry began in the 1960s with the work of
the late Ed Rossbach. The evolution of processes, materials and
approaches to content within the movement are exciting. The spirit
of the work with regard to experimentation, innovation, and intellectual
pursuit is applicable to any artist in any medium as well as anyone
involved with -creative arts.
